UN Women is inviting applications from qualified candidates for two positions under its Women’s Economic Empowerment and Affirmative Procurement project in Nigeria.

  1. PROGRAMME ASSISTANT AFFIRMATIVE PROCUREMENT

Grade: NPSA 5, PSA

Job Function: Economic Empowerment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of secondary education is required.

A university degree in Social Sciences, Political Science, International Studies, Public Administration, Economics, Law or a related field is an advantage.

At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in administrative or programme management support.

Experience working with multiple office software packages is required.

Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is desirable.

Experience supporting a team is an advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide administrative and financial support to programme management.

Support project creation, budget revisions, project awards and financial closure using relevant UN Women systems.

Process payments, requisitions and non PO vouchers.

Provide logistical support for meetings, workshops, events and missions.

Support travel arrangements and prepare meeting minutes and presentations.

Maintain programme files, mailing lists and documentation.

Support resource mobilisation and donor documentation.

Assist with programme work plans, budgets, reporting and monitoring.

Support audit processes and implementation of audit recommendations.

Assist with data tracking, knowledge management and documentation of lessons learned.

EDUCATION

Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Human Rights, Gender and Women’s Studies, International Development or a related field is required.

A first level university degree combined with 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.

Project or programme management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2 or MSP is an advantage.

EXPERIENCE

At least 1 year of progressively responsible experience in development programme or project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting and capacity building.

Experience in public policy and strategies supporting women’s entrepreneurship.

Knowledge of gender responsive public procurement procedures and regulations in West and Central Africa.

Experience with private sector affirmative sourcing and supply chain practices.

Experience working on programmes funded by international institutions is an advantage.

Experience designing and delivering training for women entrepreneurs is an advantage.

Experience in Women’s Economic Empowerment is desirable.

Experience coordinating with government agencies and donors is desirable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead implementation of national project activities related to Women’s Economic Empowerment and affirmative procurement.

Monitor project progress and contribute to donor and monitoring reports.

Coordinate consultants, contractors and implementing partners.

Support budgeting, expenditure tracking and financial reporting.

Provide technical advice on affirmative procurement and women’s entrepreneurship.

Support capacity building and training for women led businesses and project partners.

Contribute to programme strategy, work plans, proposals and implementation.

Monitor programme results, indicators, activities and budgets.

Support partner assessments, calls for proposals and reporting.

Contribute to advocacy, knowledge management, communications and resource mobilisation.

Support inter agency coordination on Women’s Economic Empowerment.

Required Language: English

Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
