Position Standards and Assurance Manager
Location Akure Ondo State Nigeria
Employment Type Full Time Onsite
Beyond Beans is seeking an experienced Standards and Assurance Manager to support the implementation and management of certification and sustainability standards across cocoa supply chains in Nigeria.
The successful candidate will lead standards and assurance activities covering Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, Cocoa Horizons and Beyond Beans standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure required certification documents are obtained and maintained
Monitor certification status and compliance across the supply chain
Keep up to date with certification standards and regulations
Develop and standardise processes, documentation and training materials
Lead the Standards and Assurance team to achieve certification targets
Develop workplans and reports and support field teams in implementing best practices
Monitor certification processes and conduct group level risk assessments
Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation and Information Management teams to improve digital data collection
Support collection of farmer polygons and traceability data
Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Standards and Assurance team
Develop staff roles, objectives and performance management processes
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and company policies
Build a motivated and high performing team through training and development
Manage the annual Standards and Assurance budget and ensure effective use of resources
Support fraud prevention and compliance procedures
Conduct studies on pesticide use and pesticide packaging management
Conduct internal audits on EUDR and pesticide use
Support mapping of conventional EUDR suppliers
Train suppliers on traceability and related controls
REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in Agricultural Development, Environmental Science or a related discipline
At least 5 years of experience managing agricultural standards in cocoa, coffee or cashew, preferably cocoa
Experience with Rainforest Alliance certification or other agricultural certification standards is required
Strong planning and organisational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Innovative mindset and willingness to continuously improve projects and procedures
Passionate, ambitious and self motivated
Ability to handle both operational tasks and large portfolios
Strong communication and advocacy skills
Ability to represent the organisation effectively at meetings and events
Strong understanding of local agricultural realities
Fluency in English
WORKING CONDITIONS
40 hours per week
Based onsite in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria
