HIRING: LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS COORDINATOR AT NUTRITION INTERNATIONAL
Nutrition International is recruiting qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Local Government Areas Coordinator to support the implementation of its proposed VAS for Boosting Child Survival in Northern Nigeria project.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The LGA Coordinator will represent Nutrition International and support the planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of maternal, newborn, child health, nutrition, and child survival interventions across 1 to 3 assigned Local Government Areas.
The project will provide financial and technical support to the Nigerian government to plan and deliver Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week activities, improve access to essential health services, and strengthen follow-up and post-campaign support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support LGA teams to develop MNCHW workplans, activity timelines, and implementation plans.
Coordinate with government counterparts, development partners, community stakeholders, and other relevant actors.
Provide technical support, supportive supervision, mentorship, and guidance to LGA teams and frontline health workers.
Support logistics planning, frontline worker training, and community mobilization activities.
Monitor service delivery points to ensure quality, equitable, and effective delivery of child survival interventions.
Participate in LGA coordination meetings, nutrition partners’ meetings, technical working groups, and other relevant forums.
Support Ward Development Committee meetings and sustainable community demand-creation activities.
Monitor community mobilization activities, including town announcers and radio jingles.
Support post-event coverage surveys, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Document lessons learned, implementation risks, best practices, and service delivery gaps.
Work with LGA teams and stakeholders to implement corrective measures based on survey findings.
Provide regular LGA-level updates and promptly flag risks that may affect programme implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition, Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, or a related field from a recognized institution.
At least 5 years of relevant fieldwork experience.
Good understanding of maternal, newborn, child health, and nutrition programmes in Northern Nigeria.
Updated knowledge of child health and nutrition policies and guidelines in Nigeria.
Strong analytical, technical, monitoring, and reporting skills.
Strong knowledge of local government structures and community dynamics within the relevant LGA.
Excellent communication, facilitation, coordination, and report-writing skills.
Ability to work effectively with government officials, community leaders, frontline health workers, and other stakeholders.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Fluency in English and Hausa is required.
Knowledge of other local languages spoken in Katsina or Jigawa State is an added advantage.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
Applicants MUST be indigenes and residents of either Katsina or Jigawa State.
The successful candidate will be based in an assigned LGA Primary Health Care office and may travel up to 50 percent of the time within the LGA and outside the duty station when necessary.
All official travel required under the assignment will be provided by Nutrition International.
