🎯 ROLE PURPOSE
The selected supervisors will provide academic and professional mentorship to students participating in practicum, field work, SIWES, and project-based programmes.
The role is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical industry application, ensuring that students receive appropriate guidance, regular feedback, and professional support throughout their placement or project period.
🔧 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
👨🎓 Student Mentorship
Supervisors will:
- Provide professional guidance and mentorship to assigned students.
- Support students in achieving their practicum, field-work, SIWES, or project objectives.
- Provide constructive feedback on students’ work and professional development.
- Help students address challenges encountered during their practical assignments.
📊 Report Review
Supervisors will be responsible for:
- Reviewing students’ daily reports.
- Evaluating submitted reports and activities.
- Providing timely feedback where necessary.
- Ensuring that student activities remain aligned with programme requirements.
📈 Progress Monitoring
The successful candidates will:
- Monitor students’ progress throughout the programme.
- Ensure students remain on track toward achieving course and practicum objectives.
- Identify challenges that may affect students’ performance.
- Support appropriate solutions and escalation where necessary.
📝 Reporting
Supervisors will compile and submit bi-weekly student progress reports to the relevant Department Coordinator.
Reports are expected to be submitted every Saturday before 4:00 PM, twice each month, during the departmental review meeting.
🎤 Final Evaluation
Supervisors will participate in the end-of-course presentation and evaluation of students as members of a panel of supervisors.
🗓️ MANDATORY SUPERVISION MEETINGS
Selected supervisors are expected to participate in the following meetings:
👥 Supervisor–Students Meeting
Days: Monday & Friday
Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
These sessions will be used to:
- Review weekly goals.
- Address student challenges.
- Monitor progress.
- Ensure alignment with practicum requirements.
🏢 Departmental Supervisors’ Meeting
Frequency: Biweekly
Day: Saturday
Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
The meeting will focus on:
- Reviewing student progress.
- Resolving systemic issues.
- Discussing supervision challenges.
- Aligning assessment standards.
🎓 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
Academic Qualification
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in a relevant field is required.
A PhD will be an added advantage.
💼 Professional Experience
Applicants should have 2–4 years of relevant industry or academic supervisory experience.

⏰ Availability
Applicants must be available for the full duration of the programme and be able to participate in all mandatory supervision and departmental meetings scheduled during each semester.
🏛️ University Affiliation
Applicants must either:
- Be current lecturers at Iconic University; or
- Be academics willing to join Iconic University as permanent, part-time, or visiting lecturers.
💰 REMUNERATION
Iconic Open University will provide a competitive administrative allowance to compensate selected supervisors for their time, expertise, mentorship, and supervision responsibilities.
Remuneration will be calculated on a per-student headcount basis, depending on whether the programme is undergraduate or postgraduate.
Specific allowance rates for programmes such as NSC, CHS, PHS, HIM, IFT & SEN, PGDI, MIT, SIWES, PG Capstone, and other applicable programmes will be communicated to shortlisted candidates during the engagement briefing.
