Job Title: Customs & Transport Officer

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international and independent medical humanitarian organization, is currently recruiting a qualified and experienced professional to fill the position of Customs & Transport Officer in Abuja. MSF provides emergency medical assistance to populations affected by conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and limited access to healthcare.
This role is critical to ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of medical and operational supplies into and within Nigeria. The successful candidate will manage customs clearance processes, coordinate transportation logistics, and maintain strong relationships with relevant authorities and service providers.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and follow up on customs clearance processes for air, sea, and road shipments
- Serve as focal point for clearing and forwarding agents to ensure timely release of goods
- Liaise with government bodies (e.g., Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health) for duty exemptions and import approvals
- Manage documentation such as Import Duty Exemption Certificates (IDEC), SONCAP, and End User Certificates (EUC)
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian customs regulations and MSF internal procedures
- Plan and coordinate international and local transport based on operational priorities
- Track shipments, resolve clearance issues, and ensure timely delivery
- Conduct transport market assessments and support vendor selection processes
- Prepare and manage transport contracts and cargo bookings, including MSF flights
- Maintain relationships with customs authorities, transporters, and suppliers
- Supervise logistics staff and ensure efficient workflow
- Provide accurate data for reporting, budgeting, and cost analysis
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiency

Qualifications and Requirements
- Technical Diploma in Supply Chain, Transport, or a related field
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in supply chain or logistics, with strong knowledge of Nigeria’s importation processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Internet)
- Fluency in English
