Mercy Corps Nigeria, a leading global humanitarian and development organization, is recruiting a qualified and experienced Senior Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer to support its programs in Northwest Nigeria.
Since 2012, Mercy Corps has been implementing impactful interventions across Nigeria in areas such as humanitarian assistance, economic development, conflict mitigation, and resilience building.

🌍 Program Overview
This role supports the Conflict Prevention, Crisis Response and Resilience (CPCRR) Programme, implemented in partnership with International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD).
The program addresses challenges such as conflict, displacement, and climate-related risks across LGAs in Katsina and Zamfara States, focusing on community resilience, governance, and livelihood support.
💼 Role Summary
The Senior MEL Officer will support the design, implementation, and strengthening of monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems. The role involves data management, field monitoring, reporting, and capacity building to ensure high-quality program delivery and accountability.
🛠 Key Responsibilities
Project Design & Planning:
- Develop and implement M&E frameworks, tools, and systems
- Support baseline, midline, and endline surveys and impact evaluations
- Ensure gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) integration
Monitoring & Evaluation:
- Review data collection tools and reporting templates
- Conduct regular field visits (up to 50% travel)
- Support data-driven reporting and indicator tracking
Data Management:
- Oversee data collection, validation, and analysis
- Manage databases and dashboards
- Support use of digital data collection platforms
Capacity Building:
- Train staff and partners on MEL tools and systems
- Provide on-site mentoring and technical support
Knowledge Management & Reporting:
- Contribute to donor and internal reports
- Document lessons learned, case studies, and success stories
🎓 Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in M&E or research within NGOs or development agencies
- Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills
- Experience with statistical software is an advantage
- Excellent communication, reporting, and organizational skills
- Willingness to travel frequently to field locations
