Open Call for Application: Capacity Building for Youth on the Nationally Determined Contributions and Climate Action

Are you a youth interested in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively engage with stakeholders and promote the implementation of Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plan (NAP)?

The Network of Youth for Sustainable Initiative (NGYouthSDGs) with support from the German Mission in Nigeria, have put together the youth version of The Empowering Youth Civil Society to Build Stronger Communities in Nigeria also known as the #ClimateActionForStrongerNaija, a project aimed at strengthening the capacity of young people and youth civil society organisations to be meaningfully engaged in the implementation of Nigeria’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). This project aims to empower and strengthen youth participation in climate action and sustainability activities across states in  Nigeria.

Relevance and Approach

Climate change poses significant challenges globally, and Nigeria is no exception. Understanding and actively participating in climate policy implementation is crucial for ensuring a sustainable future. This training provides:

• Comprehensive Learning Sessions: Participate in structured learning sessions.
• Leveraging Social Media and Technology: Use digital platforms and multimedia tools effectively for climate advocacy, amplifying your voice and reaching a broader audience.
• Expert Insights and Peer Learning: Gain knowledge from experienced professionals in climate policy and advocacy, and share experiences and strategies with peers to enhance collective learning.
• Community Mobilisation and Engagement: Develop skills to engage and mobilise communities, fostering collaboration and action towards sustainable development goals and climate resilience.

Are You What We’re Looking For?

• A young Nigerian (ages 18–35) from any background—student, activist, entrepreneur, or community leader.
• Passionate about climate action and sustainability.
• Ready to commit to capacity-building training sessions.
• Have reliable internet connectivity.
• Eager to join a community dedicated to advancing climate policies and action.

What should you expect? 

 During the training sessions, you will;

• Engage in structured learning on climate and environmental sustainability.
• Gain insights from experienced professionals in climate policy and advocacy.
