Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Abuja for a Human Rights Officer. The Human Rights Officer will be responsible for promoting awareness and understanding of human rights issues. Additionally, the Officer will monitor adherence to international human rights standards and advocate for democracy and gender equality. The Officer will also assess and report on violations related to human rights, rule of law, and social justice. Meanwhile, the Officer will work closely with stakeholders to advance initiatives supporting underserved communities.
Qualifications
Strong ability to litigate and average understanding of strategic litigation
Good knowledge and understanding of the operations of African Regional Courts
Strong understanding of International Human Rights frameworks and principles
Expertise in Human Rights, Rule of Law, and related advocacy
Knowledge and experience in Gender Equality and Democracy principles
Excellent analytical, research, and report-writing skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders
Proficiency in project management and the ability to develop and implement programs effectively
Advanced degree in Human Rights, Law, International Relations, or a related field
Experience in non-governmental organizations or similar environments is advantageous
