Location: West Africa

The West Africa Democracy Fund (WADF) is now accepting applications for its 2026 funding cycle. The fund is designed to support organizations that are actively working to strengthen democracy, good governance, transparency, and citizen participation across West Africa. Eligible applicants include civil society organizations, community-based groups, youth- and women-led initiatives, non-governmental organizations, trade unions, and regional networks that demonstrate a strong track record in governance, democratic practices, or civic engagement.

Organizations applying must operate either within a specific West African country or across the region and must be able to demonstrate measurable impact in promoting democratic values, accountability, or citizen empowerment.

Funding amounts range from USD 50,000 to USD 500,000 and can be used to implement projects that increase civic participation, improve governance systems, strengthen democratic institutions, or amplify marginalized voices in society.

All applications must be submitted by 30 April 2026. Successful applicants will receive financial support as well as technical guidance to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of their programs.

This is a significant opportunity for organizations looking to expand their impact and contribute to the long-term development of democratic practices in West Africa.
