apply economic affairs internship at the UNCTAD


The position is with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The internship is unpaid and full-time, requiring interns to work five days per week (40 hours). It is a remote position located within the Least Developed Countries Section (LDCS) of the Policy Analysis and Research Branch (PARB), under the Division for Africa, Least Developed Countries, and Special Programmes (ALDC). The internship is expected to start on November 4, 2024, for an initial three-month period, with the possibility of extension up to six months based on departmental needs.

Economic Affairs Intern (remote internship)

Responsibilities:
Interns will receive training and mentoring throughout their placement. Working under the supervision of the Section Chief, the intern will support the development of the Least Developed Countries Report 2025 and Vulnerability Profiles of pre-graduating LDCs by performing the following tasks:

  • Assist in compiling databases and using statistical tools for data processing and computations,
  • Prepare data visualization products,
  • Conduct online research and compile literature reviews,
  • Assist in drafting documents such as reports, policy briefs, and speeches,
  • Attend and summarize conferences and meetings,
  • Help prepare project documents and training materials,
  • Contribute to developing PowerPoint presentations and infographics.
