Iconic Open University’s Public Health Department is seeking an experienced and qualified Research Consultant to lead and manage a seminar course for its undergraduate students. The Consultant will collaborate with department academics to provide a roadmap for conducting public health research projects that will ensure students produce valuable researches that will birth some recommendations that align with national and global health priorities.
*Key Responsibilities:*
– Collaborate with supervisors to design structured areas and roadmap for research.
– Identify key problems affecting public health in Nigeria and West Africa by extension and develop models on how students will source data.
– Oversee the categorization of students into groups for field-based research across Nigeria’s 36 states and beyond.
– Coordinate student visits to relevant locations for data collection, and provide oversight in deriving goal-oriented solutions from their research.
– Organize and lead presentations, assess student projects, and compile the final projects into a compendium or journal.
– Facilitate the dissemination of research findings to national and international stakeholders, including Nigeria’s Federal and State Ministries of Health and the States and National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
*Qualifications:*
– At least 10 years of experience in the field of Public Health with previous or recent academic experience, and having a proven record of managing public health projects within Nigeria or beyond.
– A minimum of 7 years of experience in the public health sector, with direct involvement in national and international health interventions.
– A PhD degree in Public Health.
– Demonstrated experience working with key health agencies such as the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Federal Ministry of Health, or the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), State Ministry of Health, State Primary Health Care Development Agency and or other reputable organizations/partners domestic or international platform in the Public Health Service.
– Proven track record of successfully coordinating public health programs from conception to completion.

– Strong organizational and leadership skills.
– Expertise in field-based public health research and data collection.
– Ability to effectively coordinate and manage distance learning activities.
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly with academic and health sector stakeholders.
*Project Duration:*
– The duration of the project is for a maximum of 6 months (renewable based on performance), from October 2024 to March 2025
