Apply Now: ARROW invites applications for Cohort 2 of its ARROW Advocacy Institute (AAI) for women and young people

The AAI aims to provide an opportunity for women and young people in all their diversities to focus deeply on their choices by unpacking issues and concepts of Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and its intersections, and make them relatable to the specific context of their lives, work, or lived realities.

More specifically, ARROW Advocacy Institute Cohort 2 wants:

To create an innovative space where SRHR concepts can be discussed and connected to realities.
To strengthen the capacity of participants from the Asia-Pacific region, especially in understanding the intersections of SRHR with other development issues.

To reach a common understanding of significant issues of SRHR that pertain to participants in the Asia-Pacific region

To identify and set common priorities for national-level advocacy plans

To strengthen capacities of participants to leverage potential regional and global advocacy engagements with a focus on gender equality and SRHR.

The Institute will be conducted by renowned national and international experts and activists working in the field of SRHR and its intersections. The faculty will use feminist, intersectional, gender, and human rights lenses and cover issues such as:

Intersectional Lens: Issues in Asia-Pacific, Movements and Geopolitics in Advocacy

Gender, Disability and Social Inclusion (including sexuality and its connections)

Trade, Security and Economic Policies (including care economy)

Human Rights & Gender Wars – Local, National, Global

Environmental Justice, Climate Change, Food Security

Fundamentalisms, Peace, Conflict, Rising Intolerance

Who is Eligible

AAI is open to women and young people in all their diversities from the Asia-Pacific region, who:

Have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in the area of human rights and gender equality at a community, national or regional level.
Are between the ages of 18 to 35 years.
Duration of the Institute

The Institute will span over six weeks, from June 28 to August 5th, with a session each week. Sessions will run for approximately 3-4 hours and consist of two parts: a lecture by the lead facilitator and their team (2-3 hours) on the relevant topic, followed by a one-hour tutorial session. During tutorials, participants will be divided into breakout rooms for weekly assignments, which may include quizzes, individual research tasks, and group projects focusing on regional or country-specific contexts. Cohort 2 of the AAI will have the opportunity to apply for upcoming advocacy fellowships at ARROW.

The AAI will be conducted virtually and in the English language.
