POSITION: DATA ANALYST

LOCATION: ABUJA, NIGERIA

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: TEMPORARY, FULL TIME

Malaria Consortium is recruiting a Data Analyst to support data analysis across its Nigeria portfolio. The successful candidate will work under the Country MEL Manager and contribute to primary and secondary analysis of programme, research, survey and evaluation data.

The role will support scientifically sound analysis addressing key disease control and programme performance questions, including routine data analytics, surveys, evaluations, data quality assessments and dashboard-based monitoring.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support qualitative and quantitative statistical analysis of project data and contribute to reports for partners.
  2. Conduct secondary and meta-analyses of available programme data to explore research and evaluation questions.
  3. Support survey inception, tool development, deployment, data cleaning, validation and quality control using platforms such as KoboToolbox and SurveyCTO.
  4. Develop and maintain well-documented and reproducible analysis scripts using statistical software.
  5. Support development, maintenance and automation of portfolio-level dashboards and indicator tracking systems using tools such as Power BI and DHIS2 outputs.
  6. Support study design, methodology development, sample size calculations, database development and statistical analysis.
  7. Support analysis of LQAS, coverage surveys, data quality assessments, HMIS data, monitoring data and other programme datasets.
  8. Participate in the development of tools and procedures for surveys, rapid assessments, routine data collection and surveillance.
  9. Support data management, statistics and data analysis capacity building for staff.
  10. Support teams with data quality assessments and data audits.
  11. Contribute to peer-reviewed publications, learning briefs, learning papers, conference abstracts and other knowledge products.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Master’s degree in Statistics, Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology or Biostatistics, Demography, or a related field.
  2. Extensive experience in statistical analysis, including qualitative and quantitative analysis and data management, preferably with an international organisation or research institution.
  3. Extensive experience in research design and implementation.
  4. Knowledge and experience of monitoring and evaluation tools and methods in international development or global health.
  5. Significant experience developing databases and electronic data collection systems using platforms such as KoboToolbox and SurveyCTO.
  6. Experience with statistical and data analysis software such as Stata, R, Excel, Python and NVivo.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Knowledge of malaria and malaria control interventions.
  2. Knowledge and experience of disease surveillance mechanisms.
  3. Working knowledge of DHIS2.
  4. Experience with data visualisation and business intelligence tools such as Power BI.
  5. Experience working with public health, research, monitoring and evaluation datasets.

  6. Management and mentoring skills, particularly in supporting junior staff.

REPORTING AND COLLABORATION

The Data Analyst will report directly to the Country MEL Manager and will work closely with the Country Research and Knowledge Management team, project teams and other relevant colleagues.
