Action Against Hunger Nigeria is recruiting a Nutrition and Health Assistant to support the implementation of community-based nutrition and health activities in Sokoto.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Nutrition team and community stakeholders, supporting beneficiary mobilization, nutrition activities, data collection, documentation, monitoring and reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and regularly update the database of porridge mum beneficiaries.
Support community-based Infant and Young Child Feeding activities, cooking demonstrations, MUAC screening, hygiene promotion and complementary feeding.
Mobilize beneficiaries during disbursement activities with support from community nutrition mobilizers.
Participate in sensitization meetings with vendors and community stakeholders.
Oversee and maintain porridge mum kitchens and ensure appropriate use.
Document nutrition activities and prepare weekly and monthly reports.
Document referrals and follow-up information for children with Moderate Acute Malnutrition.
Support data collection for screening, Post-Distribution Monitoring, KAP surveys and other nutrition assessments.
Supervise routine MUAC screenings conducted by Community Nutrition Mobilizers.
Prepare and submit weekly and monthly nutrition information summaries.
Organize and participate in community sensitization, entry and feedback meetings.
Support the development and placement of programme banners.
Participate in relevant local coordination meetings.
Supervise activities of CHIPS agents and community volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Diploma in Public Health, Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science or another relevant field.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in nutrition programming, particularly at community level.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and other relevant tools.
Fluency in written and spoken English, Hausa and Kanuri.
Ability to observe activities and provide constructive feedback.
Ability to work flexibly under difficult or challenging conditions.
