YOUTH AND STUDENTS IN INNOVATION (YSI) PROGRAMME
The Youth and Students in Innovation (YSI) programme is designed to equip young Nigerians with practical technology and innovation skills, identify emerging innovators, and help transform creative ideas and prototypes into sustainable economic opportunities.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government of Nigeria, youth empowerment, job creation, and technology are key areas of development.
YSI aims to bridge the gap between academic research and market-ready enterprise by supporting young people to develop technology-driven solutions with potential for job creation and economic impact.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
- SKILLS FOR THE FUTURE
Equip young people with practical, hands-on digital and technology skills through general courses and 8 specialised innovation tracks.
- SPOTTING TOMORROW’S INNOVATORS
Identify, recognise, and nurture promising technology and innovation talent across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
- FRONTIER TECHNOLOGY EXPOSURE
Expose participants to emerging technologies and innovations shaping the future of work.
- MENTORSHIP THAT LASTS
Connect young participants with mentors and strengthen their participation in innovation ecosystems through continued mentorship and a post-programme community.
- FROM INNOVATION TO INCOME
Create pathways for young people to translate science, technology, and innovation exposure into employment and economic opportunities.
- YOUTH VOICES, NATIONAL POLICY
Support the development of a Youth Innovation Communiqué from each geopolitical zone, providing a platform for youth perspectives to contribute to national policy discussions.
