JOB OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Protection Manager, the Social Work Officer II will facilitate the identification, self-reporting, referral and management of gender-based violence and other protection cases through a mobile approach.

The role will also implement individual and group psychosocial support activities for women and girls, work closely with the RRM team and community actors, and strengthen relationships with humanitarian partners and local authorities to improve access to essential services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Manage GBV and other protection cases and facilitate referrals to appropriate services.
2. Strengthen the capacity of community and humanitarian actors on ethical and safe referrals.
3. Provide training, coaching and follow-up to psychosocial support groups.
4. Facilitate structured group discussions with women through the Women Rise approach.
5. Implement and monitor the emergency component of the Girl Shine approach for adolescent girls.
6. Train community leaders and grassroots organizations on GBV concepts and basic psychosocial support.
7. Maintain confidential case records and ensure timely transmission of data to GBVIMS.
8. Support community leaders in identifying and referring GBV survivors according to established guiding principles.
9. Map available GBV service providers and assess their accessibility to target communities.
10. Work with child protection teams to facilitate internal referrals and coordination.
11. Conduct discussions with women and girls on community protection risks and develop risk mitigation plans.
12. Contribute to quarterly analysis of GBVIMS trends and prepare reports for the Protection Manager.
13. Submit weekly and monthly activity reports and contribute to donor reporting.
14. Participate in relevant coordination meetings, working groups and forums.
15. Follow IRC operational and security policies and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

1. Must be a Nigerien national.
2. Female candidates are required for this position.
3. Knowledge of the humanitarian context in Diffa or at least 1 year of work or residence in the area.
4. Proficiency in relevant local languages, particularly Kanouri, Hausa, Fulfulde/Peulh, Toubou and Arabic.
5. Higher education degree or equivalent qualification in Law, Psychology, Social Sciences, Health or a related discipline.
6. At least 2 to 3 years of professional experience in GBV case management, child protection, psychosocial support, follow-up and referral, or relevant field experience as a psychologist.
7. Knowledge of minimum standards for GBV programming.
8. Experience in women’s protection and community-based protection.
9. Experience working with NGOs or humanitarian organizations.
10. Experience in case management.
11. Experience training and supporting community-based agents and organizations.
12. Experience with international or local NGOs is an advantage.
