Action Against Hunger Nigeria is recruiting Enumerators to support its Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning and Programme teams with quantitative and qualitative data collection activities.

The enumerators will support activities such as beneficiary registration, verification, household surveys and routine project monitoring under the supervision of Action Against Hunger staff.

REPORTS TO: MEAL Officer

PROPOSED START DATE: September 2026

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct accurate quantitative and qualitative data collection.
  2. Support routine monitoring of project activities across assigned sites.
  3. Conduct supervision and spot checks of enumerators’ daily activities where assigned.
  4. Ensure the quality and accuracy of collected data.
  5. Locate and validate respondents before administering questionnaires.
  6. Provide technical support to field teams using paper or mobile data collection tools.
  7. Coordinate enumerator movements to reach required respondent targets according to schedule.
  8. Ensure approved data collection methodologies are properly implemented.
  9. Ensure proper handling and use of data collection devices.
  10. Report beneficiary complaints and feedback to the appropriate accountability unit.
  11. Provide feedback and complaint forms to stakeholders where required.
  12. Report progress and provide feedback to field supervisors after each day of data collection.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should have:

  1. Minimum of SSCE and a Diploma in Science, Social Sciences or another relevant field.
  2. At least one previous experience in field data collection or related activities.
  3. Fluency in English and at least two relevant local languages, particularly Hausa, Kanuri, Fulani or Shuwa.
  4. Strong written and spoken communication skills in relevant languages.
  5. Previous experience using smartphones or mobile data collection tools.
  6. Knowledge of survey procedures and data quality techniques.
  7. Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  8. Interpretation and translation experience is an advantage.
  9. Good understanding of the local situation and community dynamics, including cultural, gender and protection considerations.
  10. Previous experience working with NGOs is an advantage.
  11. Understanding of humanitarian and development principles and conflict/post-conflict contexts.
  12. Ability to work professionally with diverse stakeholders and communities.

PREFERRED CANDIDATES

Female indigenes of the state where the activity will be implemented are particularly encouraged to apply.
