Job Description
The Project Manager will lead and coordinate the implementation of Criminal Justice Reform activities under Component 1 of the Rule of Law and Anti Corruption Phase II Programme in Nigeria.
The role involves managing project activities at federal and state levels, overseeing planning and implementation, coordinating teams and partners, managing stakeholder relationships, monitoring project performance, supporting monitoring and evaluation, and ensuring compliance with European Union and International IDEA procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage Criminal Justice Reform project activities under Component 1
Provide strategic direction and supervise project teams and consultants
Oversee project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting
Ensure delivery of agreed outputs and outcomes within approved timelines and budgets
Develop and maintain relationships with government institutions, donors and other stakeholders
Support the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities
Coordinate with project partners and the European Union Delegation to Nigeria
Represent the project with government institutions, donors and other relevant stakeholders
Strengthen local ownership and sustainability of project interventions
Ensure compliance with European Union and International IDEA regulations and procedures
Promote gender equality, diversity and social inclusion across project activities
Education and Experience
Master’s degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Criminal Justice, Law, International Development, Social Sciences, Political Science or a related discipline
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Criminal Justice Reform, Rule of Law, project management and implementation, and provision of expert advice
Minimum 5 years of management experience, including senior level positions and direct supervision of complex teams
Experience working in democracy and governance in Africa and other developing country contexts
Demonstrated experience in programme management and monitoring and evaluation
Experience planning, developing and managing European Union funded programmes is an advantage
Familiarity with European Union processes and systems is an advantage
Experience with an international or regional organisation in democracy assistance is an asset
Excellent written and spoken English
Knowledge of French, Arabic, Spanish or another widely spoken language in an International IDEA priority region is an asset
Other Requirements
Candidates must be legally authorized to live and work in Nigeria
International IDEA will not support work permit applications
The position may require travel to programme locations
