🎯 Role Overview

The Program Development & Grants Officer will lead resource mobilization and fundraising efforts, including:

  • Donor mapping and engagement
  • Proposal development and grant acquisition
  • Building strategic partnerships

This role is critical to expanding GHI’s funding portfolio and program sustainability.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

💰 Resource Mobilization & Fundraising

  • Identify and track local & international funding opportunities
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies
  • Build and maintain a strong donor pipeline
  • Represent GHI at donor meetings and networking events

📝 Proposal Development

  • Lead development of concept notes, EOIs, and grant proposals
  • Coordinate proposal inputs across teams
  • Prepare budgets, work plans, and supporting documents
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and deadlines

📊 Donor Intelligence & Analysis

  • Conduct donor mapping and funding landscape analysis
  • Monitor trends in climate finance, development funding, and philanthropy
  • Provide strategic insights to management

📑 Grant Management & Compliance

  • Support post-award grant management and reporting
  • Maintain grant tracking systems
  • Ensure timely submission of deliverables

🌿 Programme Development Support

  • Contribute to project design and concept development
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, and documentation

🎓 Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Development Studies, Public Policy, Environmental Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3–5 years experience in fundraising, grants, or proposal development
  • Proven track record of winning or contributing to successful grants
  • Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Good understanding of donor compliance and grant management

⭐ Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in Proposal Writing, Project Management, or Grant Management
  • Experience with donors such as:
    • USAID
    • European Union
    • United Nations Agencies
    • GIZ
    • FCDO
  • Knowledge of climate change, WASH, renewable energy, and sustainability sectors
