2027 NNPC/RENAISSANCE JV SABBATICAL AND POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, operator of the NNPC/Renaissance/TotalEnergies/AENR Joint Venture, invites applications from suitably qualified Nigerian postgraduate students and university lecturers for its 2027 Sabbatical and Postgraduate Research Internship Programme.
APPLICATION PERIOD: 23 October – 6 November 2026
- POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH INTERNSHIP
Eligible Applicants: Nigerian postgraduate students pursuing MSc, M.Phil. and PhD degrees.
Duration: 12 months, non-renewable.
AVAILABLE TEAMS AND DISCIPLINES
Environment: Impact Assessment and Environmental Compliance Monitoring.
Occupational Health: Health Promotion, Epidemiology and Statistics.
Pipeline Availability: PhD candidates in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Oil and Gas Engineering, with at least three years of pipeline engineering experience in design, construction or integrity assessment.
Exploration: PhD interns in Geology or Geophysics, with a focus on AI in exploration workflows.
- SABBATICAL ATTACHMENT FOR UNIVERSITY LECTURERS
Eligible Applicants: University lecturers at the rank of Senior Lecturer and above.
Duration: 12 months, non-renewable.
The programme offers lecturers an opportunity to undertake research, gain industry-related experience and contribute to Renaissance’s business objectives and teaching and research activities at its Centres of Excellence.
AVAILABLE TEAMS AND DISCIPLINES
Environment: Impact Assessment and Biodiversity, Environmental Toxicology, Air Quality Assessment, Hydrobiology, Water Chemistry, Hydrogeology and Ecology.
Corporate Relations: Social Performance, including Social Impact Assessment and Management.
Corporate Relations: Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) and Stakeholder Relations.
Community Health: Community Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Paediatrics.
Nigerian Content Development: Professors in any Engineering discipline with an interest in Process or Project Engineering.
NNPC/Renaissance JV Centre of Excellence in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering, University of Benin: Geology, Geophysics and Petroleum Engineering.
NNPC/Renaissance JV Centre of Excellence in Marine and Offshore Engineering, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt: Marine and Offshore Engineering and Naval Architecture.
Exploration: Geology or Geophysics, with a focus on AI in exploration workflows.

- For sabbatical applicants: A titled, one-page summary explaining how the applicant intends to add value to Renaissance’s business during the 12-month attachment.
- For postgraduate research internship applicants: A research proposal covering the study background, technical objectives, methodology, required data and expected outcomes.

Applications from individuals who have previously participated in the programme will not be considered.
Applications without a clearly stated team or discipline of interest will not be considered.

The application process is completely FREE. Renaissance and its joint venture partners do not request payment from applicants or appoint agents to process applications.
