The Centre for Communication and Social Impact (CCSI) is part of a consortium implementing the Advocacy solutions to improve Primary Health Care (PHC) Delivery and Health Outcomes in Nigeria Project in three states (Kano, Kaduna, and Lagos). The project is funded by the Gates Foundation with Engender Health as the lead of the Consortium. The goal of the project is to Improve access and use of quality gender-responsive health and PHC services, information and supplies. The State Advocacy Coordinator Consultant will lead initiatives to enhance PHC delivery and health outcomes in Kano, Kaduna and Lagos addressing systemic gaps through strategic advocacy. This role involves collaborating with government agencies, healthcare providers, community leaders, and international partners to influence policy, mobilize communities, and drive sustainable health improvements.
Responsibilities
Advocacy Strategy Development – Support the design and implement evidence-based advocacy strategies targeting PHC gaps (RMNCH+N).
Analyze relevant state to identify barriers to PHC access and prioritize action areas.
Stakeholder Engagement – Build partnerships with state, local government, NGOs, and community leaders. Organize stakeholder forums and policy dialogues to align efforts.
Campaign Management – support campaigns using media, social platforms, and community mobilization (e.g., town halls, radio programs). Support the development of advocacy materials (policy briefs, toolkits) for diverse audiences.
Policy Analysis & Influence – analyze state health policies (State PHC policies, RMNCH+N policies, state health insurance policies). Advocate for reforms through policy briefs, legislative engagement, and technical support to policymakers.
Capacity Building – Support training CSO staff, partners, journalists and community leaders on advocacy techniques and PHC best practices.
Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) – Track advocacy impact using indicators (e.g., policy changes, service uptake).
Reporting & Compliance – Submit detailed reports to management, ensuring adherence to ethical and safeguarding standards.
Qualification
Education: Bachelor’s in Public Health, Social Sciences, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Experience: 5+ years in advocacy, preferably in public health/Nigeria context. Experience in policy analysis and stakeholder engagement required.
Skills:
Strong communication (English & Hausa proficiency essential).
Project management (budgets, timelines).
Analytical and leadership abilities.
