The Foundation has been helping children in need for over 50 years, defending their rights regardless of their race, creed, or political affiliation. In over 30 countries, Tdh protects children against exploitation, and violence, improves children’s and their mother’s health, and provides emergency psychological and material support in humanitarian crises.

The Field Operations Officer is responsible for providing operational and logistical support to ensure the effective implementation of project activities in remote locations. Working closely with the project team, the officer ensures that field operations run smoothly, securely, and in full compliance with organizational procedures and standards.

Responsibilities & Tasks

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Logistics & Procurement Support

Coordinate local procurement in support of field activities, ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
Work directly with the logistics coordination team on procurement related to projects managed from the coordination base. This includes reviewing purchase requests from the field, monitoring the procurement schedule and purchase plan, as well as overseeing the reception, inspection, and storage of goods until their distribution.
Management of framework contracts on the base and organization of all field events in collaboration with the project teams (trainings, communication-related events, etc.).
Organize and monitor the transport of staff, materials, and equipment to and from intervention sites.
Manage project stock and equipment, maintaining accurate records of movements and usage.
Ensure the functionality and proper maintenance of field equipment.
Administrative & HR Compliance

Ensure proper collection and filing of administrative documents (attendance sheets, leave records, etc.).
Support the application of HR procedures and policies at the field level.
Promote compliance with safeguarding principles, the code of conduct, and “do no harm” standards in all operational processes.
Ensure documentation and archiving of project records according to internal standards.
Field Supervision & Security

Serve as the main operational focal point in the field, liaising daily with the program team to anticipate needs.
Report operational challenges and propose solutions to enable timely activity implementation.
Act as the field-level security focal point, ensuring that basic safety protocols are respected, and that relevant information is shared with the Project Manager and security team.
Others

Undertake all other duties that may be determined by the Supervisor.
Fully comply with Tdh Code of Conduct and ensure Child Safeguarding Policy, PSEA are always upheld.
Ensure adherence to Tdh standards and quality requirements in all the project activities.
Adhere to and ensure the team under her/his responsibility follows Tdh administrative and logistical regulations and procedures.
Security

Comply with Tdh Security Regulations
Competencies:

Minimum 2–3 years of experience in humanitarian logistics, procurement, and field support roles.
Proven experience supporting field-based teams in remote or hard-to-reach areas.
Familiarity with administrative and HR compliance in NGO settings.
Understanding of humanitarian principles, including safeguarding and accountability.
Previous exposure to basic security risk management at the field level is an asset.
Skills:

Strong organizational and coordination skills.
Ability to work independently and take initiative under pressure.
Good interpersonal communication and team collaboration skills.
Capacity to strictly follow procedures while maintaining flexibility in the field context.
Proficiency in basic IT tools (Excel, Word, communication apps, etc.).

Additional Requirements:

Capacity to work within the framework of Tdh Nigeria’s core values.
Previous experience in a similar role in the Northeast is considered an asset.
Understanding the local language(s) is an added advantage.
Indigenes of Borno State are highly encouraged to apply.
