Save the Children Denmark: Project Engagement Manager (Africa Team)
Save the Children Denmark is seeking a dynamic Project Engagement Manager to join our Africa team. This role supports impactful project design, manages initiatives, and secures funding from institutional donors and corporate foundations for Save the Children International’s country offices in Africa.
About the Role:
The Project Engagement Manager will play a key role in coordinating, monitoring project implementation, ensuring compliance, and managing reporting for assigned projects in Africa. The role also champions our Award Management System, provides team guidance, assists with presentations, portfolio overviews, and supports the documentation and communication of results.
Responsibilities:
• Support senior colleagues with project cycle management in collaboration with country offices.
• Monitor progress towards achieving project results.
• Capture and share key lessons from assigned projects (including communication and visibility).
• Ensure contract compliance throughout reporting cycles and closeout.
• Perform quality assurance/quality control on funding proposals, reports, modification requests, and other donor correspondence.
• Assist with award management system compliance and project proposal development.
• Track in-house co-financing and cost-sharing decisions.
• Inform and advise country offices on project-related developments.
• Bring programmatic risks to the attention of senior colleagues.
• Support donor relations, including funding proposal development and communication.
Qualifications:
• Graduate-level university degree in a relevant field or equivalent.
• Experience in international project management, including supporting donor-funded projects and contracts.
• Experience with aid programming in education, child protection, MHPSS, climate change, local leadership, and/or contextual analysis.
• Ability to develop, read, understand, and revise budgets and financial accounts.
• Superior English writing skills.
• Proven experience in performing quality assurance/quality control on funding proposals and reports.
Advantageous:
• Experience traveling to or working with country offices/partners from a HQ perspective.
• Experience in and knowledge of the Africa region.
• Experience with Danida and EU donors.
• Speaking, writing, and understanding Danish and/or French.
