Job Title: Peace Building and Social Cohesion Officer

Bincike International is a Nigerian NGO uniquely structured as both a Humanitarian Organization and a social enterprise. Position Summary

  • Bincike International is seeking two highly experienced and dedicated Peace Building and Social Cohesion Officers to lead and implement our vital peacebuilding initiatives in Katsina and Kaduna States.
  • These strategic roles will focus specifically on working with women and girls in conflict settings, addressing their unique needs, and amplifying their voices in peace processes.
  • The successful candidates will possess a deep understanding of the local context in their respective states and a proven track record in designing, implementing, and evaluating impactful peacebuilding projects.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Implementation:

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of peacebuilding and social cohesion projects in their assigned state (Katsina or Kaduna), with a strong focus on gender-sensitive approaches.
  • Ensure all project activities align with Bincike International’s strategic goals, donor requirements, and best practices in peacebuilding.
  • Develop detailed work plans, budgets, and procurement plans for project activities.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of project activities, ensuring timely and effective delivery.

Community Engagement & Mobilization:

  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with women and girls, community leaders, local authorities, traditional institutions, and civil society organizations in conflict-affected areas.
  • Facilitate participatory processes to identify community needs, build trust, and promote inclusive dialogue on peace and conflict resolution.
  • Support the establishment and strengthening of women-led peace committees and networks.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and community dialogues on peacebuilding, conflict transformation, and social cohesion.

Gender and Protection Integration:

  • Champion the integration of gender perspectives and protection principles throughout all peacebuilding activities.
  • Identify and address the specific vulnerabilities and needs of women and girls in conflict settings.
  • Promote women’s meaningful participation and leadership in peace processes and decision-making structures.
  • Work to mitigate gender-based violence and provide support to survivors within the context of peacebuilding efforts.

Capacity Building:

  • Provide technical guidance and capacity-building support to local partners, community structures, and project staff on peacebuilding methodologies, conflict analysis, and gender-responsive approaches.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

  • Develop and implement robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track project progress, outcomes, and impact.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on project data, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare comprehensive narrative and financial reports for internal use and for donors.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices to inform future programming.

Coordination & Partnerships:

  • Represent Bincike International in relevant coordination forums and meetings with government agencies, UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships to enhance project reach and impact.
  • Collaborate closely with Bincike International’s head office and other program teams to ensure synergy and coherence.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, Gender Studies, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, social cohesion, and/or community development, with a significant focus on working in conflict settings.
  • Demonstrable working experience and deep understanding of the socio-political context, cultural nuances, and conflict dynamics specifically in Katsina State (for the Katsina position) or Kaduna State (for the Kaduna position).
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing projects focused on women and girls in conflict-affected areas, including gender-transformative approaches.
  • Strong understanding of gender analysis, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response, and protection principles.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in project cycle management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required. Proficiency in Hausa is essential.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with donor-funded projects.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles and international human rights standards.
