Pathfinder International is a global leader in sexual and reproductive health. We place reproductive health care at the center of all that we do—believing that it is not only a fundamental human right, but also critical for expanding life opportunities for women, families, communities, and nations, and paving the way for transformations in environmental stewardship, decreases in population pressures, and innovations in poverty reduction. Pathfinder provides women, men, and adolescents with a range of quality health services—from contraception and maternal care to HIV prevention as well as AIDS care and treatment.
About the Project – Task Shifting/Task Sharing (TSTS)
The Task Shifting/Task Sharing to Strengthen PHC Services is a 2 -year investment funded by the Gates Foundation. The purpose of this two-year investment is to design, develop and implement an ideal TSTS framework to improve primary healthcare outcomes in Kano and Kaduna States. Pathfinder will conduct a pilot study to evaluate a package of interventions aimed at increasing access to integrated PHC services by enhancing the capacity of (J)CHEWs to deliver these services with improved quality and efficiency. The evaluation will assess the potential for sustainability and scalability by exploring the feasibility of the intervention package and the TSTS approach’s impact on access, service utilization, and service delivery efficiency. Findings will be used to inform decisions and advocate for changes in practice scope, training curricula, and certification of health workers, particularly (J)CHEWs. This pilot aims to provide proof-of-concept for the effectiveness of the TSTS implementation framework.
