Opportunity for Storytellers from the Global South

Applications are now open for the “Voices from the South: Storytelling for Impact” program offered by CNN Academy.

This program is designed to provide comprehensive training for early-career content creators, journalists, and storytellers who are based in the Global South. The focus will be on reporting urgent global health and humanitarian stories that require attention. Eligible applicants must currently reside and work in developing countries located in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, or Asia.

The application deadline is 23 June 2025.

The program is divided into two distinct phases. Candidates who successfully advance to the second phase will be invited to participate in an intensive, hands-on training session held in Abu Dhabi.

CNN Academy aims to empower and enhance the skills of the next generation of storytellers. This initiative builds upon a long-standing tradition established by CNN’s founder, Ted Turner, dedicated to training and nurturing future talent. The program focuses on developing essential skills, creating valuable professional connections, and opening doors to new opportunities.

From Dublin to Kuala Lumpur, CNN Academy brings the newsroom experience directly into the classroom by connecting participants with top CNN correspondents. Through this engagement, participants learn what it takes to become successful multimedia journalists in today’s dynamic media landscape.
