Malaria Consortium seeking LGA Field Assistant Nigeria

Malaria Consortium: LGA Field Assistant – Kebbi, Nigeria and other locations.

Malaria Consortium is seeking a dedicated LGA Field Assistant to support Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) activities in Kebbi State, Nigeria. This role is crucial to ensuring the effective delivery of SMC interventions at the Local Government Area (LGA), health facility, and community levels. The LGA Field Assistant will work closely with local government representatives, community stakeholders, and the State Technical Officer (STO) to plan, implement, and monitor program activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  Programme Implementation & Treatment Management (70%):

    Support the implementation of SMC activities, including route plan adherence, planning meetings, commodity distribution, community mobilization, and supervision.

    Track consumption levels and review reconciliation reports to ensure accountability of commodities and supplies.

    Provide administrative support for training events for field partners.

    Monitor program targets and ensure timely implementation of activities to meet objectives.

    Ensure activities align with established protocols, escalating any issues to the STO.

    Maintain strong relationships with Public Health Officers and other partners to ensure LGA ownership.

  Reporting & Data Quality Control (10%):

    Review distributor tally sheets, correct errors, and enter data on relevant platforms.

    Assist the M&E Officer in addressing data quality issues and ensure timely resolution.

    Submit regular reports to keep the STO and State Project Manager informed of project progress.

  Coordination & Representation (10%):

    Ensure planning and coordination meetings are conducted as scheduled at LGA and community levels.

    Attend data validation meetings at the LGA level as directed by the STO.

  Administrative & Other Duties (10%):

    Develop individual and team action plans to achieve treatment targets.

    Participate in supply consumption planning.

    Provide information for overall stock level planning.

    Ensure physical inventory of SMC commodities at health facilities after each cycle.

    Perform any other duties as required by the line manager.

Qualifications & Experience:

  Essential:

    Clinical Officer, nurse, science, social science, or Public Health qualification at a minimum of diploma level.

    At least two years of field experience in a related area.

    Fluency in English, Hausa, and/or other local languages.

    Experience in drug/commodity supply management, M&E, and logistics.

    Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

    Experience conducting quality supportive supervision and data use.

  Desirable:

    Experience in logistics, training, and capacity building.

    Experience supporting teams.

    Experience working at the LGA level.

Key Requirements:

  Good planning and organizational skills

  Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office proficiency)

  Nigerian Citizenship (Legal Requirement)

  Ability to speak and understand English (Desirable)
