Position Overview: Data Collector
Malaria Consortium is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Data Collectors for an End-of-Cycle (EoC) evaluation using the Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) approach. This temporary role involves conducting household interviews to assess Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) coverage and adherence among Community Drug Distributors (CDDs).
Purpose of the Assignment
The assignment aims to gather data on SMC coverage and adherence to treatment protocols not more than five (5) days post-distribution. The findings will be used to identify underperforming areas (wards scoring below 80%) for targeted corrective actions.
Scope of Assignment

Data collection will take place in the FCT and eight supported states.

Supervisors will be trained through a Training of Trainers (ToT), who will then train the data collectors.

Data collection will be conducted using electronic platforms.
Key Responsibilities

Attend a two-day in-person training on:
-
SMC program overview
-
Data collection methodology and instruments
-
Electronic data collection (using SurveyCTO)
-
Interpersonal communication skills
-

Conduct household-level interviews in assigned wards (1 data collector per 4 wards).

Accurately record responses using SurveyCTO on mobile devices.

Upload completed datasets to the central server daily.
Expected Deliverables

Submission of clean and complete datasets via SurveyCTO.
Qualifications & Requirements
-
Education: Minimum of BSc or HND in Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field.

Experience:
-
3–5 years of public health research experience, particularly in data collection.

Experience with digital data collection tools (e.g., SurveyCTO).

Prior experience with LQAS surveys is an added advantage.

Language Skills: Fluency in at least one local language (e.g., Hausa, Yoruba, Kanuri).

Cultural Competence: Familiarity with the local terrain, traditions, and community norms.

Other Requirements:
-
Must be female or part of a gender-mixed team in selected states.

Must not be a government staff member or currently involved in any SMC-related roles.

Must not have been blacklisted in prior LQAS activities.

Must demonstrate attention to detail and data accuracy.
