One of the pillars of the Advocacy & Communication Section at LACRO relies on engaging a wide diversity of audiences across Latin America and the Caribbean through digital platforms to promote children’s rights. To reach those audiences in the digital landscape and engage them with key prioritized messages, the Regional Digital Advocacy & Communication Strategy seeks to leverage updated digital platforms techniques and content creation in combination with data analysis to provide our audience relevant, trusted and appealing digital experiences that lead them to be UNICEF digital supporters.

Purpose of this consultancy
Under the overall direction of the Regional Communication Specialist on Digital, Multimedia and Campaigns, in close coordination with the Digital Communication Officer and in the framework of the UNICEF LAC Regional Office Advocacy & Communication Working Plan, we are seeking a Web and Digital Support Consultant with the skills to build and create engaging and creative content experiences for the UNICEF LACRO digital platforms, through website architecture, social media and paid media, to improve our reach on segmented audiences.
The Web and Digital Support Consultant will work within the UNICEF Advocacy & Communication section in the Regional Office and will have the opportunity to contribute to make a large impact on the user experience of regional digital platforms audiences, contributing to implement the regional strategy for digital platforms.

Key Activities/Tasks:
Support in the implementation of UNICEF LACRO Digital Advocacy & Communication Strategy through:
Web architecture: Implement technical improvements on Drupal CMS to enhance web performance, based on latest UNICEF policies and guidelines, browsers updates and best practices in the digital landscape.
Thematic social media packages: Produce digital content for prioritized dates combining key messages, graphic design, and techniques to generate engaging content.
Paid media: Upon coordination with Communication Section and following HQ procedures, lessons learned and the digital landscape best practices: implementation of paid media resources for reaching key audiences on regional prioritized issues.
Reporting: Support in providing analytics reports on the performance of activities implemented
as part of the consultancy.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
A first University Degree in Communication and/or Digital Journalism, or related fields integrating social-media platforms, APIs (CMS, Facebook, Twitter, Google, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.).
Relevant professional experience in: Managing and optimizing web platforms. (Minimum 3 years)
Developing engaging content. (Minimum 5 years)
Communications skills and multimedia (writing, editing, video production, photography). (Minimum 5 years)
Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
Fluency in Spanish is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or English) or a local language is an asset.
Skills:
Experience using Drupal CMS.
Experience in paid media planning, implementation and monitoring through ads manager dashboards.
Experience in using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign.
Experience in working with UNICEF, UN agencies or International NGOs will be considered a strong asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
