Position Summary
The Program Officer will provide technical support to field teams in key program areas including agricultural productivity and sustainability, horticulture, and financial inclusion. This role requires expertise in resilient and climate-smart agriculture, agricultural extension services, agribusiness, value chain development, and financial inclusion for smallholder farmers.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with smallholder agricultural interventions, farmer training, and extension services.
Key Responsibilities
– Develop and implement strategies to improve agricultural productivity through sustainable practices. Conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions for community structures.
– Support the Project Coordinator in planning and executing Nuru’s impact and agricultural programs within target communities, aligning efforts with the organization’s vision and strategic objectives.
– Guide and train farmers on appropriate cropping patterns and farming techniques using demonstration plots to promote best agricultural practices. Facilitate savings and loan activities to enhance social cohesion and increase income.
– Manage assigned intervention communities, ensuring successful integration of Nuru’s programs and acceptance by community members.
– Facilitate the formation of farmer associations and support their development into well-structured farmer organizations.
