Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) Yola, Since its founding in 1977 as the social arm of the Catholic Diocese of Yola, JDPC Yola has embodied faith in action serving as a beacon of hope and transformation for conflict-affected communities across Northeast Nigeria. Far more than just an organization, JDPC Yola is a grassroots movement of compassion, resilience, and justice. Position Title: Gender Technical Assistant

Job Description
JDPC Yola is seeking a passionate and committed Gender Technical Assistant to support the implementation of gender equality and GBV-related activities under ongoing programs. The successful candidate will assist in promoting gender-responsive programming, engaging communities, and supporting monitoring and reporting efforts related to gender and protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Gender Specialist in planning and implementing gender mainstreaming activities across all projects.
- Assist in conducting community sensitization sessions on gender equality, women’s rights, and GBV prevention.
- Work with field teams to integrate gender-sensitive approaches into assessments, community engagement, and service delivery.
- Support data collection, analysis, and reporting on gender indicators and GBV response services.
- Participate in capacity-building sessions for community structures and partners on gender and safeguarding.
- Assist in identifying protection concerns and referring GBV survivors to appropriate services in a safe and confidential manner.
- Maintain strong relationships with women’s groups, youth associations, and community leaders to promote inclusive participation.
- Document case studies, success stories, and lessons learned. Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in gender, protection, or community engagement activities (NGO or development setting preferred).
- Strong understanding of gender equality, GBV prevention, and women/girls’ empowerment approaches.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team and with vulnerable groups.
- Ability to speak and write in English fluently. Hausa or any local language (e.g., Fulfulde) is a strong advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and mobile data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox) is an added advantage.
