Job Vacancy: Program Officer

About Us:
Gongola Health and Development Initiative (GHADI) is a legally registered non-governmental organization based in Jalingo, Taraba State. We are committed to improving community health and promoting sustainable development through targeted health interventions and empowerment programs. GHADI is one of the few local NGOs in Taraba shortlisted by the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) for youth-focused empowerment initiatives in the state.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Program Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring health and development programs. The role involves working closely with stakeholders, partners, and community members to ensure timely and effective delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Development
•Assist in designing new project proposals and work plans aligned with organizational and donor priorities
•Conduct needs assessments and field research to support program design
•Develop detailed activity schedules, budgets, and implementation frameworks
Program Implementation and Coordination
•Manage daily execution of project activities and ensure they align with objectives and timelines
•Coordinate training sessions, community outreach, and stakeholder engagement activities
•Provide support and supervision to field teams, volunteers, and local partners
•Ensure program compliance with internal guidelines, donor policies, and national health regulations
Monitoring and Evaluation
•Design and implement monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools and frameworks
•Track program performance and document results for learning and accountability
•Conduct site visits and provide technical guidance to field teams
•Analyze data, produce M&E reports, and suggest program adjustments based on findings
Reporting and Documentation
•Prepare regular progress reports for donors, management, and partners
•Maintain proper records of project activities, expenditures, and outcomes
•Support the development of success stories and program highlights for visibility
Stakeholder Engagement
•Establish and maintain relationships with government officials, community leaders, NGOs, and other partners
•Represent the organization at external meetings, events, and working groups
Budget and Resource Management
•Support budget tracking and financial reporting for assigned projects
•Monitor resource use and ensure cost-effective delivery of activities
•Contribute to identifying funding opportunities and assist with proposal writing
Qualifications and Experience:
•A degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field
•Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in program management or community development
•Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
•Experience working with communities, NGOs, or government agencies is an added advantage
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with M&E tools is desirable
