Since 2014, we have been implementing our innovative Sun Books digital learning initiative to provide children in Nigeria, Uganda, and Kenya with access to high-quality educational resources, particularly in off-grid areas. Sun Books integrates literacy, solar power, and digital technology to transform education in underserved communities. The platform offers over 800 eBooks, interactive literacy activities, and comprehensive teaching resources. We also provide ongoing teacher training to ensure that education is both sustainable and impactful, empowering educators to effectively utilize our resources and enhance their teaching practices.

Position: Sun Books Implementation Manager (Re-advertised)

• Salary: NGN 250,000 – NGN 350,000 per month
Role Overview:
The Sun Books Implementation Manager will be responsible for overseeing the effective implementation of our Sun Books Project in Nigeria. This pivotal role will focus on ensuring that our project is effectively implemented through the productive utilization of our literacy resources in all our project schools. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine passion for literacy improvement among teachers and children in underserved communities, combined with strong project management and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Sun Books Project Implementation: Ensure the effective implementation of our Sun Books Project in all our project schools, adhering to established protocols and best practices.
• Supervision and Support: Supervise teachers and children as they make use of our literacy resources, providing guidance and support to maximize their learning experience.
• Literacy Instruction: Teach and co-teach literacy in the classroom, utilizing our structured literacy resources and syllabus to enhance student comprehension and engagement.
• Literacy Sessions: Organize literacy sessions with learners during free periods, providing additional support and reinforcement to promote literacy skills development.
• Positive Project Experience: Ensure a positive project experience among the teachers and learners we work with, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Performance Tracking & Impact Measurement: Monitor and evaluate the project impact among teachers and learners, ensuring alignment with WLF’s impact goals.
• Progress Assessment: Track teachers’ and learners’ progress through ongoing assessments, identifying their literacy needs and optimizing program effectiveness.
• Reporting: Prepare and submit comprehensive weekly and monthly reports to the Project Lead and Global Program Manager, detailing program outcomes and key performance indicators.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Excellent written and spoken English skills, with the ability to com
municate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Sound knowledge of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and the overall teaching of literacy.
• Proven experience managing literacy projects, with a track record of success in achieving project goals.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee literacy initiatives from inception to completion.
• Experience teaching literacy to vulnerable and marginalized children, demonstrating a commitment to equity and inclusion.
• Experience training teachers on effective literacy teaching in low-income communities, empowering educators to transform their teaching practices.
• Ability to create and maintain sound relationships with teachers, school heads, and administrators, fostering collaboration and partnership.
• Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking and relationship-building abilities, enabling effective engagement with stakeholders.
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills to track program impact across schools, using data to inform decision-making and improve program effectiveness.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global non-profit environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
