Job Description
Managing Strategic Communication Networks
Develop communication plans for specific projects and activities and target key messages tailored to certain audiences (including donors, beneficiaries, partners, and the public), and disseminate information efficiently and effectively.
Manage other members of the Communications team such as photographers, consultants and interns whenever available.
Participate in IWEI Office-wide strategy and planning activities.
Branding and Visibility
Ensure the strict adherence to IWEI branding guidelines in the office.
Coordinate production of stories from the field such as documentaries and photo essays.
Driving brand recognition and visibility through compelling storytelling and media engagement
Dedicated to enhancing our organization’s brand and visibility through strategic communication initiatives
Media Relations
Maintain effective and good working relationship with local and national News – Inventory of Media Houses and media reporters.
Maintain an up-to-date media database for the distribution of future IWEI communications materials. Chain of email address.
Develop a media database and partnerships with media organizations and journalists; interact and pitch stories of interest; and organize media field visits.
Coordinate media engagement and collect visual and audio footage for archiving of events and activities.
Cover high-level and high-visibility events; ensure media coverage and disseminate live information to highlight messages.
Work closely and train colleagues as communication champions and how to deal with the media by providing key messages and basic tips on media engagement.
Online and Social Media
Produce content for online and social media channels such as the website, Facebook, Twitter, instagram etc. in line with corporate policies and guidelines.
Developing, implementing, and managing a social media calendar
Tracking and assessing social media metrics, insights, and best practises to help us continuously improve our reach and engagement with key audiences
Respond to messages, comments, and requests from social media users
Develop social media kits for key moments and events
Attend key events to capture content for campaign and social media efforts , including taking photos and gathering quotes
Write and edit web posts and ensure content is interesting and visually appealing.
Providing additional communications support as required
About you/must-haves for the position
A minimum of a university degree or its equivalent in English, linguistics, mass communication, journalism, or any social science-related field.
Experience in media production (including audio and video documentary-adobe media suite) social media campaigns (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn), website design, and content management.
Strong oral and written communication skills: you are a skilled and versatile writer who writes compelling stories in a simple, succinct, clear and compelling prose
You are a team player with a collaborative and service oriented mindset to all projects. You are happy to contribute to ensure advancement of our mission.

Good knowledge of computers and relevant publishing software, such as but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point), desktop publishing (Adobe Creative Suite -Photoshop, PDF, etc.), Canva.
