Land is a critical resource, yet land degradation poses significant global challenges, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), which comprises 16% of the world’s land and contributes 20% of ecosystem services. Unsustainable practices and deforestation have degraded nearly 70% of its lands, leading to erosion, nutrient loss, and reduced agricultural productivity.
Climate change exacerbates these issues, threatening food security and prompting internal migration.

To address this, sustainable landscape management (SLM) integrates ecological, social, and economic strategies to restore degraded lands, enhance resilience, and ensure equitable resource use.
Organized into five modules, it blends Theoretical training on resilient landscapes, Climate-smart agriculture, Inclusive policies, Field visits to the Senegal River Valley, fostering knowledge exchange, and Collaboration to scale sustainable solutions and enhance the livelihoods of SSA communities.
