Job Title: Child Protection Coordinator

Location: Borno (Magumeri, Gubio, Kaga and Damasak) Roving positions
Job type: Full-time (On-site)
Contract duration: 3 months with possibility of extention

About the Job

  • The child protection coordinator will provide overall managerial & technical support to all CP activities in his/her field office. 
  • The Child Protection Coordinator will lead implementation of Child Protection activities with backstopping from Child Protection and Child Rights Governance Thematic Program Manager. Block roles include, Budet management, implementation planning and execution, staff management, project level decision making and local level coordination.In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly. 
  • He/she will also be required to supervise and provide support to staff implementing the FSL, WASH and nutrition component of the project.  
  • The coordinator will be required to travel to the field locations every month to supervise activities.
  • The coordinator will be required to work closely with partner staff (SCI) who is the lead on the CP activities in the four locations of implementation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and monitor implementation of project plans at all levels, ensuring implementation is according to detailed implementation plans.
  • Lead in the identification and procurement of materials required to attain project outputs, including support to partners.
  • Coordinate with Logistics to ensure timely and safe delivery of supplies allocated to field activities.
  • Manage staff performance, capacity strengthening and wellbeing
  • Build a solid strong project team that only competes against project deliverables and not with each other.
  • Directly line manage project officers and other relevant positions under the projects allocated
  • Perform other functions related to Child Protection activities and initiatives that may be assigned by Line Manager.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policy and report where necessary.
  • Monitor/report on key issues and provide support in analysing contextual information in order to improve decision-making process.
  • Ensure that all planned activities are implemented on time, to quality measures and within budget as per the monthly plan. Where challenges arise, ensure that these are flagged early, communicated to the PM and addressed in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Ensure that all program data is properly and regularly collected by field staff, check data and ensure that it is logically presented to the MEAL unit.
  • Conduct timely and spot monitoring visits to projects to support field staffs on in the job coaching and to ensure that project implementations are in accordance with the project implementation plan.
  • Monitor and reporting on key issues of security, incidences, risk and situation update in the organization to the project Manager and Partners in order to improve decision making processes.
  • Assist the Program Manager in Internal and External Communication session and events about the project for sound awareness.
  • Member of Programme management committee actively participate in meaningful deliberation during decision making for the progress of the organization.
  • Write a comprehensive project progress reports to the funding partners and share it with the project manager at monthly basis as stipulated in the project agreement, quarterly and end of project report when due.
  • Support the Project officers in conducting advocacy and consultation visit to community leaders and members of the community during community entry and engagements.
  • Technically sound to coordinates and supervises the CP team in various field of projects implementations Locations, track implementation progress accordingly.
  • Participating    in   stakeholder   meetings and organizing all other activities relating to the project as well as   documenting   all important actions and decisions from meetings.
  • Develop project strategies, ensuring project deadlines are met and determine project changes to achieve project deliverables.
  • Monitor performance against the set targets, develop budget forecast and monitor expenses to avoid over/underspent. 
  • Reporting to the program manager EYN Projects.
  •  Liaise and cooperate with national and international partners for the purpose of advancing the project objective and with other national and international partners.

Requirements
Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Science, LAW or any related field from a certified tertiary institution with at least three years of proven experience in Child protection programming programming.
  • A critical thinker with outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience working in an office environment while consistently uploading strong professional ethics.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • A firm grasp on and understanding of project management
  • Developing and promoting effective collaboration within and across units & projects to achieve shared goals and optimize results.
  • Willingness and ability to take initiatives not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathise with all beneficiaries and their carers. 
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with all staff and key stakeholders.
