FIELD ENUMERATORS (Kebbi State)

The Enumerator will be responsible for data collection and conducting interviews with community respondents based on the evaluation/assessment questionnaires. He/she is required to have prior experience and proficiency in data collection, research using various data collection tools, and a fundamental understanding of the study’s context and language.

SCOPE:

Employment Type: Contract – Part-Time

Job Status: Nationals only.

Slots: 80

Locations: Birnin Kebbi, Bunza, Suru and Argungu LGAs.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Assist CARE and partner in data collection and entry as per CARE requirements.
Provide interpretation of questions to help respondents during interviews, surveys, and assessments.
Facilitate data entry on both online and offline platforms.
Provide transcribed versions of the FGD, and KII notes, including audio records response.
Adhere to the principle of confidentiality on all information collected and that of project participants (Data Protection)
Ensure research ethics, survey guidelines, and assessment requirements inform the conduct and behavior of Field Enumerators
Participate in pre- and post-activity debriefing, to present findings and resolve challenges.
Share field notes and recordings as they are available with the research team.
Informing the supervisor team of any misinformation/lack of information, complaints, or additional feedback from project participants.
Follow CARE policies regarding information and data management and protection of project participants.
Comply with quality and research ethics requirements during fieldwork (this includes data protection and information confidentiality of respondents or target project participants)
Conduct key in-depth interviews (KII and FGDs) in the assigned communities.
Double check information on survey forms, and tablets to ensure the accuracy of information.
Engage in data entry or production of soft copy in cases where paper-based options are used.
Enumerators are expected to always respect community leadership, cultural norms, and traditions and display a humanitarian code of conduct.
Collect and enter data as required by the project at selected locations assigned to her/him.
Be expected to ensure completeness of all assigned questionnaires, discussion guides, or data collection tools.
Perform any other task assigned to him/her by the supervisor.
Key Deliverable(s):

Pictures of field activities
Audio files (where applicable)
Field summary report
Conduct interviews
Interview summaries/notes and transcribe FGD notes.
Participation in debriefing sessions
Complete the survey form (according to targets).

Requirements

All applicants must possess a minimum of Diploma or NCE in Social Science, Management Science, Information Management System, or equivalent is required. B.Sc. or HND will be an added advantage.
Languages required: Fluency in English and Hausa is mandatory, both oral and spoken.
Must be resident in the state and LGA’s of implementation, and be willing to go to the remote communities.
Experience using mobile data collection tools (ODK tools, Kobo Toolbox, SurveyCto CommCare)
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role.
Able to adapt within a work environment containing individuals of multiple and various culture, ethnic, religious, and educational backgrounds.
Possess a degree of flexibility to work and availability to respond to comments and questions in a timely and appropriate manner.
Additionally, to be eligible to apply, the intended applicant must have a Tax Identification Number (TIN) and an active bank account.
Ability to work under pressure and demanding circumstances alone or within a team.
Because enumerators are to be recruited locally, they will be responsible for their transportation and accommodation in the town they chose for the exercise.

Demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills, respect, patience, and good leadership skills.
Desired

B.Sc. or HND will be an added advantage.
Ability to speak the local language.
