Call for applications: 2-day training ahead of the African Commission’s 85th session*
ISHR is pleased to announce a two-day in-person training for African human rights defenders. This is a first-of-its-kind training specifically designed for defenders from across the continent who are keen to engage strategically with the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR).
The ACHPR is a key platform for defenders to influence both national and regional human rights agendas. This tailored programme is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to effectively integrate the ACHPR into their existing work. In addition to the training sessions, the programme provides a valuable networking opportunity.
What to expect: Two days of in-person training (language: French and English)
Two mandatory, pre-training live sessions (2 hours each, online)
When: October 2025 (dates to be confirmed – the training will be timed slightly ahead of the 85th ordinary session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights)
Where: Banjul, The Gambia, or any other location where the ordinary session of the African Commission would take place.
Please note: If the 85th session happens online, successful applicants will be proposed to attend another training session, likely to happen in April 2026.
Application deadline: by midnight (Banjul time) on 25 August 2025
