Wadata Relief Care Initiative (WRCI) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and humanitarian and Developmental organization that strives for a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls and young people in Nigeria by promoting equitable governance and human rights. Established in 2018. WRCI started operations in 2019 and registered as a nonprofit making organization with Corporate Affairs Commission in 2023.

In July 2009 the Boko haram insurgence began in the Northeast, and in 2011 the bandit Conflict in the Northwest escalated, the Federal Government announced interventions that affected the lives of the general population. To fight the insurgence/banditry to reduce its impact on the population, Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Nigeria collaborated to fight the insurgence’s menace. In 2018, WRCI launched activities to provide succour to people affected by the conflict and violence.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

About the Project

  • This project, “Strengthening Community Resilience against Extremism and Violent Extremism through Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Women and Youth Associated with Violent Extremism,” will be implemented in Bakori Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria.
  • It aims to address the multifaceted challenges posed by armed groups, including bandits and the Lakurawa insurgents, which have severely impacted local communities through violence, displacement, and disruption of livelihoods.
  • The initiative focuses on rehabilitating and reintegrating women and youth affected by or associated with violent extremism, while simultaneously strengthening the resilience of the broader community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and implementing project activities on the ground.
  • Assist in beneficiary identification, community engagement, and coordination with local stakeholders.
  • Monitor the day-to-day progress of project activities and report on achievements and challenges.
  • Facilitate communication between the project team, partners, and beneficiaries to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Support logistical arrangements for trainings, workshops, and community meetings.
  • Assist in data collection for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Help prepare project documentation, reports, and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote community participation and ensure inclusivity in project activities.
  • Address challenges and propose practical solutions to enhance project effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Project Management, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in project implementation, preferably in community development or security-related projects.
  • A good understanding of the security challenges in Northwest Nigeria is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including community leaders, government officials, and beneficiaries.
  • Proficient in MS Office and basic data management.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Hausa or other local languages is a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing environments.
