UNESCO Prize for Global Citizenship Education: Celebrating Initiatives that Build Peaceful and Inclusive Societies

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is pleased to announce the inaugural UNESCO Prize for Global Citizenship Education (GCED). This prestigious global award recognizes outstanding initiatives that promote peace, human rights, inclusivity, and critical thinking through education.

Who Should Apply:

The Prize is open to:

•  Youth-led organizations (run by and for youth)

•  Individuals, institutions, NGOs, and other entities actively promoting Global Citizenship Education (GCED)

Award Details:

The Prize recognizes two outstanding GCED initiatives, one per category. Each winner will receive $50,000 USD.

Geographic Scope:

The Prize is open to projects based anywhere in the world, provided they align with GCED principles and contribute to building more just, inclusive, and peaceful societies.

Application Deadline:

Applications and nominations are being accepted NOW through September 1, 2025.
