Apply to the 2026 SVRI Research Grant

The Request for Proposals for the 2026 SVRI Research Grant is now officially open. The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) is inviting applications for innovative research projects that focus on the prevention of, and response to, violence against women, violence against children, and other forms of violence driven by gender inequality in low- and middle-income countries.

This grant supports research that generates generalizable knowledge, strengthens the use of evidence in policy and practice, and promotes locally led, equitable research partnerships aimed at addressing the structural inequalities that perpetuate violence. The initiative seeks to fund projects that can make a significant impact on reducing violence and improving the lives of vulnerable populations by informing effective interventions and policies.

Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals that demonstrate innovation, rigor, and relevance to the challenges faced in low- and middle-income settings. The research should contribute to advancing understanding and practical solutions in the field of gender-based violence.

The application deadline is July 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM South African time. Proposals must be submitted exclusively through the online platform Proposal Central.

Applications can be submitted in English, French, or Spanish to accommodate a diverse range of researchers and maximize accessibility.

For detailed information about the grant, including eligibility criteria, application guidelines, and evaluation process, please visit the official SVRI Research Grant webpage at https://www.svri.org/svri-research-grant/#overview.

If you have any questions or require further assistance, you may contact the SVRI team directly via email at svri@svri.org.

This is a valuable opportunity for researchers and organizations dedicated to advancing knowledge and action against gender-based violence in vulnerable communities. We encourage all eligible applicants to prepare their proposals carefully and submit them before the deadline.
