Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship: Shape the Future of Clean Energy and Climate Change

Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship! This prestigious program seeks to cultivate the next generation of leaders committed to clean energy and climate solutions.

Program Overview:

The Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship is a highly competitive program designed to connect rising professionals from the Global South with world-renowned experts and a global network of peers. The program aims to equip fellows with the knowledge, skills, and connections needed to drive meaningful change in their respective fields.

Application Information:

•  Application Deadline: August 1, 2025, at 11:59 AM

•  The application process is entirely online. There are no paper forms.

•  There is no application fee or other cost to apply or participate.

•  All fellows’ costs for Yale Orientation week and Paris closing week will be covered by the program (round-trip airfare, hotels, transfers, and per diem).

Application Requirements:

•  Applicants should be five to ten years into their professional careers, with demonstrated accomplishments at a regional, national, or international level.

•  Applicants must be representatives of the Global South, including developing Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America/Caribbean.

•  Applicants must be fluent in English.

•  Climate Fellows must be available to fully participate in all parts of the program:

  •  Yale Orientation week (February 16-20, 2026) – In-person

  •  Paris closing week (June 15-19, 2026) – In-person

  •  Five remote learning journeys (March-June 2026)

  •  Collaborative group project (March-June 2026)

Selection Criteria:

•  An established record of achievement in a profession linked to clean energy and climate change. We seek a diverse group of Fellows from across multiple stakeholder groups:

  •  Government officials

  •  Entrepreneurs

  •  Energy company/utility professionals

  •  Bankers/financiers

  •  Journalists

  •  Educators/researchers

  •  Civil society representatives

  •  Legal advisors

  •  Legislators

•  A commitment to making a positive impact at the local, national, or international level.

•  Demonstrated promise of a future career in leadership at both the national and potentially global level.

•  An eagerness to expand and deepen professional networks and to benefit from exposure to top global leaders in the clean energy and climate change space.

Application Materials:

•  Résumé/Curriculum Vitae (maximum three pages)

•  Brief video statement

•  Personal statement (maximum 600 words)

•  One letter of recommendation
