About the Job
HARAF is looking for an energetic and creative Communications/IT Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies, managing IT infrastructure, identification, drafting, and editing of compelling success stories and ensuring effective dissemination of our messages to diverse stakeholders, including donors, partners, beneficiaries, and the general public.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communication plans aligned with organizational goals.
- Manage the organization’s online presence, including website updates and social media platforms.
- Prepare press releases, newsletters, success stories, and other outreach materials.
- Identify, draft, and finalize compelling and empowering case studies and success stories from all HARAF projects through regular field visits.
- Create visually and narratively striking communication tools, including presentations, infographics, and other materials, with support of program teams, to strengthen donor engagement.
- In collaboration with the operations team, ensure unified branded templates and formats are developed and disseminated for internal and external communications.
- Ensure sensitization and compliance with new formats and tools by internal teams, strengthening HARAF unified “brand”.
- Maintain and troubleshoot computer systems, networks, and software.
- Ensure data security and integrity of organizational information.
- Manage hardware and software inventories.
- Provide technical support to staff and partners.
- Implement and oversee the organization’s IT policies and procedures.
- Train staff on the use of communication tools and IT systems.
- Collaborate with program teams to support project documentation and reporting
- With the support of program teams, develop contextually appropriate and sensitive visibility and safeguarding materials which can be utilized in HARAF projects.
Qualification/professional competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience (minimum 3- 5 years) in communication, IT management, or related roles within an NGO or similar organization.
- Strong understanding of digital communication platforms, social media tools, and website management.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud), and content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Knowledge of network setup, troubleshooting, and data security best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Hausa and English.
- Innovative and solutions oriented with sound analytical, conceptual, and strategic thinking skills.
Skills Specification:
- Excellent graphic design and detail skills with an ability to bring disconnected visual elements into a single, unified design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in Hausa and English.
- Strong storytelling and content creation abilities (e.g., articles, press releases, social media posts).
- Effective interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Media relations and press management.
- Proficiency in social media management and digital marketing tools.
- Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Video editing and multimedia production (preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software, and network systems.
- Troubleshooting and maintaining IT infrastructure.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
- Data management and backup strategies.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Coordination skills for managing multiple communication and IT tasks.
- Capacity to support capacity-building activities for staff.
