Program Manager
Role Summary
The Program Manager is responsible for the overall strategic planning, implementation, quality assurance, grant management, and team leadership of the EiE project in Gwoza. This role ensures the program meets donor compliance, and delivers high-impact results for crisis-affected children.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee the project’s adherence to the LogFrame, budget (Budget vs. Actuals/BvA analysis), and work plan. Lead the preparation of high-quality narrative and financial reports for donors.
2. Ensure all programming (e.g., ABEP) meets established quality benchmarks. Work with the MEAL unit to design monitoring tools (KOBO, indicator tracking) and ensure data-driven decision-making.
3.Directly supervise the Project Officer(s) and provide technical guidance. Develop and implement capacity-building plans for the team and local partners/teachers.
4. Serve as the NGO’s representative for the EiE project in Gwoza, attending the Education in Emergencies Working Group meetings and liaising regularly with the State Ministry of Education (SMoE), and local authorities.
5. In collaboration with the Safety/Security team, monitor the local context to ensure program activities are adaptive and risk-informed.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of progressive professional experience in humanitarian or development settings, with at least 2 years in a managerial role leading education, child protection, or multi-sectoral programs.
- Context: Proven, demonstrable work experience in North-East Nigeria (Borno, Adamawa, or Yobe states), with a strong understanding of the Gwoza context.
- Technical Skills: Excellent grant management, financial oversight, and donor reporting skills. High proficiency in using project management and M&E tools (LogFrames, Excel, KOBO, etc.). Language: Fluent in spoken and written English. Knowledge of Hausa, Kanuri, or other local languages relevant to Gwoza is a strong asset.
Project Officer(Education officer)
Role Summary
The Project Officer is responsible for the direct, day-to-day implementation and monitoring of EiE activities at the community and school levels in Gwoza. This role ensures that field activities are delivered on time, to quality, and in line with community needs and project plans.
Key Responsibilities
1. Execute project work plans, including and ensuring the effective use of resources.
2. Conduct regular on-site monitoring visits to target schools/learning centres to ensure adherence to quality standards and provide on-the-spot mentoring to teachers/facilitators.
3. Lead community mobilization, sensitization, and awareness campaigns on the importance of education. Work closely with School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs), and community leaders.
4. Responsible for accurate, timely collection of beneficiary data (disaggregated by age, gender, disability) using digital tools (KOBO/paper-based). Consolidate weekly and monthly field reports for the Program Manager.
5.Coordinate the logistics of teacher payments, beneficiary registration, and managing field-level stocks of materials, adhering strictly to NGO administrative and finance policies.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Education, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional experience working for an NGO, with direct experience in implementing Education, Livelihoods, or Child Protection activities in humanitarian settings.
- Context: Previous experience working in a complex, remote, or challenging field location, ideally within Borno State.
- Technical Skills: Proven capacity to manage field-level teams and excellent practical problem-solving skills (e.g., managing logistics in remote areas). Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Language: Fluent in spoken and written English. Fluency in Hausa and/or Kanuri is highly desirable.
