Job Overview/Summary:
The GBV Officer will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of GBV activities within IDP camps and host communities. The role involves identifying GBV concerns, leading GBV case management and referrals, supervising activities at the GBV safe space, coordinating structured PSS and menstrual hygiene sessions for adolescent girls, supporting and mentoring GBV champions and community volunteers and ensuring adherence to GBV minimum standards and response protocols.
The successful candidate will coordinate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of protection services and interventions are in line with humanitarian standards.
Major Responsibilities
GBV Case Management and Response
- Provide professional and confidential services to GBV survivors, grounded in the IASC’s holistic, survivor-centered case management approach.
- Conduct individual assessments, develop case action plans, and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including intake and consent forms, ensuring client confidentiality and secure data storage.
- Support the maintenance of RIA’s case management system and ensure ethical data collection and management in compliance with GBVIMS standards.
- Participate in data analysis on GBV trends and coordinate with the GBV Psychosocial Officer to share information with relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and strengthen referral networks and pathways between GBV partners, ensuring timely and appropriate service delivery.
- Contribute to the preparation of case management reports and periodic project updates.
Psychosocial Support and Prevention
- Facilitate structured recreational and psychosocial support sessions for vulnerable girls and boys.
- Support and coordinate positive parenting sessions for parents and caregivers to enhance child well-being and safety.
- Lead activities at the Women and Girls Safe Space (WGSS) and ensure it is functional, safe, and inclusive.
- Provide psychological first aid (PFA) and basic emotional support to GBV survivors when necessary.
- Strengthen prevention efforts through awareness-raising on GBV, women’s rights, and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).
Training, Mentorship, and Coaching
- Supervise and provide mentorship, guidance, and technical support to community workers and GBV champions involved in psychosocial and case management activities.
- Facilitate capacity-building sessions on GBV core concepts, guiding principles, survivor-centered approaches, active listening, action planning, and effective communication.
- Monitor and support community workers to ensure adherence to ethical standards and proper documentation practices.
- Ensure all psychosocial activities are conducted according to international best practices and organizational standards.
Coordination and Networking
- Strengthen and maintain networks with local partners, community leaders, women’s groups, and service providers (protection, legal, health, psychosocial) to ensure effective coordination and referral for survivors.
- Liaise with CATAI and other consortium partners for case referrals, technical collaboration, and activity harmonization.
- Participate in GBV sub-cluster and protection coordination meetings, advocating for survivors’ needs and program visibility.
- Support the development and monitoring of monthly community outreach plans based on case trends and emerging needs.
- Participate in local capacity-building training sessions and awareness events.
Partnership Development
- Participate in review meetings and psychosocial capacity assessments of local partners.
- Provide ongoing technical support and case management guidance to implementing partners under the supervision of the Program Manager.
- Facilitate training workshops for partners on GBV standards, reporting, and coordination mechanisms.
- Support partner participation in inter-agency coordination meetings and case conferences.
- Assist the Program Manager in organizing partnership review workshops and strengthening collaboration under the PACT-LAB consortium framework.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Accountability
- Track progress of GBV interventions and ensure compliance with GBV Minimum Standards and donor requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case management records and produce timely activity, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Contribute to GBV data analysis and trend reporting for program adaptation and learning.
- Ensure all interventions align with RIA Initiative’s safeguarding policy, accountability framework, and SDC donor compliance standards

Requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or it’s equivalent in social work, Psychology, Sociology, Gender Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in GBV prevention and response within humanitarian or development settings.
- Experience in case management, community mobilization, and facilitation of psychosocial support activities.
- Understanding of GBV guiding principles and international humanitarian standards.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience working with national or international NGOs.
- Good understanding of the GBVIMS (desired)
- Understanding of the PSEA, or Psychological First Aid (PFA) and GBV minimum standards
