JOB PURPOSE
- Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Medical Doctor will be responsible for providing professional medical care to patients/beneficiaries, ensuring quality clinical case management in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The role involves applying medical expertise, supporting health facilities and mobile clinic activities, strengthening referral systems, and contributing to improved health outcomes of the target population in line with INTERSOS standards and protocols.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and manage health conditions in accordance with validated protocols.
- Provide outpatient and/or inpatient consultations and prescribe appropriate treatment in supported health facilities and mobile clinics.
- Ensure adherence to universal precautions and infection prevention and control (IPC) standards at all times.
- Respect professional confidentiality while managing patient information and cases.
- Assess and arrange referrals for patients requiring advanced care beyond INTERSOS’s capacity.
- Support in responding to health and nutrition emergencies and contribute to disaster preparedness planning.
- Promote maternal, infant, and young child feeding (MIYCF) best practices in health facilities.
- Actively participate in rapid health and nutrition assessments and surveys.
- Provide input on staff performance, raise personnel concerns, and support solutions in collaboration with supervisors.
- Contribute to the recruitment and capacity building of health and nutrition staff as appropriate.
- Supervise the use and accountability of medical materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Identify opportunities for program development and provide recommendations to improve service delivery.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor in line with program needs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education & Professional Requirements:
- MBBS degree with a valid practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Minimum of 2 years post-graduate clinical experience.
- Proven experience in leadership and supervision roles.
