Role Summary:

The People Operations Officer works closely with Human Resource Business Partners to create and implement people-focused programs and solutions. The goal is to promote a positive culture, solve organizational challenges, and support business objectives. The candidate should have a basic understanding of Human Resource processes and be quick to learn.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage employee onboarding, including orientation, training, and initial performance evaluations
  • Provide support to employees and managers on matters related to benefits, compensation, and employee relations
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations including hiring practices, workplace health and safety, equal opportunity, and safety
  • Implement People policies and procedures consistently and following best practices
  • Maintain accurate personnel records and update employee data, benefits, and compensation on time
  • Manage employee performance through coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Keep accurate records of employee information in electronic and digital formats
  • Manage People-related projects such as employee engagement, team building, and culture-building initiatives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Must reside in the North Western Region (Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara) and be fluent in the local dialect
  • Certification in People management such as aPHRi or PHRI is preferred
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in People management including recruitment, employee relations, and performance management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations including equal opportunity and workplace safety
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop and implement effective People strategies and processes
  • Knowledge of People functions and best practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and responsibility
