Role Summary:
The People Operations Officer works closely with Human Resource Business Partners to create and implement people-focused programs and solutions. The goal is to promote a positive culture, solve organizational challenges, and support business objectives. The candidate should have a basic understanding of Human Resource processes and be quick to learn.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage employee onboarding, including orientation, training, and initial performance evaluations
- Provide support to employees and managers on matters related to benefits, compensation, and employee relations
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations including hiring practices, workplace health and safety, equal opportunity, and safety
- Implement People policies and procedures consistently and following best practices
- Maintain accurate personnel records and update employee data, benefits, and compensation on time
- Manage employee performance through coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions when necessary
- Keep accurate records of employee information in electronic and digital formats
- Manage People-related projects such as employee engagement, team building, and culture-building initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Must reside in the North Western Region (Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara) and be fluent in the local dialect
- Certification in People management such as aPHRi or PHRI is preferred
- 2 to 3 years of experience in People management including recruitment, employee relations, and performance management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations including equal opportunity and workplace safety
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop and implement effective People strategies and processes
- Knowledge of People functions and best practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and responsibility
