About the AU Wise Youth Network

The AU Wise Youth Network is an official subsidiary mechanism of the African Union Panel of the Wise, established to strengthen the meaningful participation of young people in conflict prevention, mediation, and peacebuilding efforts across Africa.

The Network contributes to the implementation of the African Union’s Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) by promoting the inclusion of youth voices in preventive diplomacy and fostering youth-led approaches to sustaining peace. It serves as a strategic platform for identifying, capacitating, and connecting young peace actors to regional and continental decision-making processes. Aligned with the AU’s commitment to the Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) agenda and the Continental Framework on Youth, Peace, and Security, the AU Wise Youth Network seeks to institutionalize youth leadership in peace processes and ensure that young people are recognized as agents of positive change.

About the African Youth Consultation on Mediation and Preventive Diplomacy

The African Youth Consultation on Mediation and Preventive Diplomacy is a flagship initiative of the AU Wise Youth Network, designed to facilitate intergenerational dialogue and peer exchange on peace and security.

This consultation provides a dedicated space for young mediators, civil society representatives, policymakers, and multilateral actors to share experiences, co-develop practical tools, and advance policy recommendations for inclusive and effective peacebuilding. The initiative supports broader regional and international efforts to mainstream youth engagement in conflict resolution and contributes to the development of a Youth Declaration on Mediation and Preventive Diplomacy as a collective advocacy and policy instrument.
