National Population Commission (NPC) to partner keystone bank for a seamless payment process for ad-hoc staff

The National Population Commission (NPC) has taken a crucial step towards ensuring a seamless payment process for ad-hoc staff engaged in the upcoming Population and Housing Census. On Monday, 18th August 2025, the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Nasir Ilsa Kwarra, received a delegation from Keystone Bank Limited, led by its Executive Director, North and Public Sector, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Bello, at the NPC Headquarters in Abuja.

The discussions centered on exploring collaborative opportunities, particularly the development of an efficient payment system for census functionaries. According to Hon. Kwarra, the reliability of the payment process is vital to the overall success of the census exercise. He stressed that delays in staff remuneration could significantly affect the efficiency and effectiveness of the census, potentially undermining the credibility of the entire exercise.

Quoting him directly: “Getting the payment system right is essential for the overall success of the census. Delays in payments for functionaries can significantly impact the effectiveness and outcomes of the census.”

The collaboration between NPC and Keystone Bank is expected to guarantee a smooth and transparent disbursement of allowances to ad-hoc staff, ensuring their motivation and commitment throughout the census period. This step reflects the Commission’s dedication to eliminating bottlenecks and providing financial assurance for thousands of functionaries who will play vital roles in data gathering.

As the nation prepares for the census, the partnership highlights the importance of financial institutions in strengthening public sector initiatives. With Keystone Bank on board, NPC is paving the way for a more reliable, timely, and effective census exercise.
