The Federal Ministry of Education, through the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB), is pleased to announce the commencement of applications for the prestigious 2026/2027 Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP). This initiative provides a remarkable opportunity for talented Nigerian citizens to pursue advanced studies and contribute to the sustainable development of the nation.

About the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan:

Established to foster educational exchange and promote international collaboration, the CSFP has supported over 30,000 individuals since 1960. The program is constantly evolving to address the contemporary challenges and opportunities facing the 53-nation Commonwealth.

Commonwealth Scholarships are designed to empower motivated individuals from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable development. Primarily funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), these scholarships align with the UK’s international development objectives, promote excellence in UK higher education, and uphold the core values of the Commonwealth.

Available Scholarship Categories:

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) offers a diverse range of scholarships to cater to various academic pursuits:

•  Commonwealth PhD Scholarships (for least developed countries and fragile states): Supports doctoral research for candidates from vulnerable nations.

•  Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships (for low and middle-income countries): Enables PhD students enrolled in universities in their home countries to spend a period of study at a UK university.

•  Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships: Provides funding for Master’s level studies in a wide range of disciplines.

•  Commonwealth Shared Scholarships: Jointly funded by UK universities and the CSC, offering opportunities to study in the UK.

•  Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships: Enables individuals to pursue postgraduate study through distance learning programs offered by UK universities.

•  Commonwealth PhD Scholarships (for High-income countries as defined by the OECD):Supports doctoral research for candidates from high-income Commonwealth countries.
